Rome BDSM Conference 2016 is entering the stage where we’re searching for Presenters and since the end of July 2015, the application form is available on our site. If you think you have what it takes to become a Presenter, fill out the application form today!
Being one of the Presenters is at the same time a great honour and a great responsability: for three full days you’ll be our standard bearer and many people will take you as their model, not just for what concerns your specific field of specialization, but also for your lifestyle, for your way of being around others and your behaviour during the Conference and the Community.
Partecipating as a Presenter is a way to contribute to the growth of the BDSM Community in Europe other than just being a fantastic showcase for you and your future workshops. Plus it’s just pure fun!!
It’s a fact that Presenters are generous people, since none of them receives a monetary compensation (we’re not yet in the position to be able to afford that), but we will do our best to make the partecipation as inexpensive as possible, to the point we’ll be offering travel and hotel stay reimboursements. Presenters will have a chance to give paid private classes in the areas provided by the Conference’s Organizators.
We want to create a fantastic group of Presenters, able to offer an original approach to BDSM, with all its different shades and nuances. You don’t need to have tens of workshop to propose or be in the scene for decade in order to have the credentials to become one of our Presenters: infact we are not looking only for “experts” as we strongly believe that anyone might have something to teach. The Conference is meant to help the Presenters themselves grow!
We want to involve people who share the spirit of the Conference and people who are not concerned just about teaching skills, but who can become an example for the values that drive their lives. That’s why we had to raise the level of the selection.
We know how much effort there is behing the decision to be a Presenter and we also know that whoever steps forward is the one who is more easily criticized. Presenters are not super-hero, they don’t have super-human powers: they are men and women who chose to share their experience and knowledge and that took the time to organize their thougths and their philosophy of life in a whay that also others could benefit of their own conclusions. Nobody thinks that all this experience comes without making mistakes or false steps: most of the times are those mistakes that gives someone the chance to improve and grow. Presenters at the Rome BDSM Conference first and foremost are human beings, with all their weaknesses and difficulties; if any of them has made a mistake we encourage them not to hide them but to use them to speak in the open and share what he/she learnt from it and how he/she decided to improve.
To us it’s important to avoid that Presenters who are prepared in their own field, but who also have grey areas or dark ones on a personal level, could get in touch, during the three days of the Conference, with more vulnerable attendees, as the ones who are just approaching BDSM. To THEM we want to guarantee, to the best of our capabilities, that the Conference will be a place where unethical behaviours not only are not thaught, but are openly discouraged, no matter who is the person carrying them out. Of course this is a policy that involves not only the Presenters, but everyone attending the Conference.
This is the reason why, if you’ll choose to apply as a Presenter, you’ll be required to give us the chance to ask around about you to the references you’ll give us, but also, once you’ll be accepted as a Presenter, to let anyone report facts or episodes that might need further investigation and that we will discuss with you about, expecially if they might interfere with your right to be at the Conference.
For this reason we believe that to be a good Presenter it’s not enough to know what you’re teaching. You have to be of inspiration for others.
And to achieve that, there’s only one way: to strive every day to be a better person.
Presenters at the Conference have to embody the values and the spirit of the Conference. If you share them and you like the idea of helping us spread them, fill out the form and apply to become one of the Presenters for the Rome BDSM Conference 2016!
